Peyton Ward and Cade Connor share a past, one that created something that drove them apart by unforeseen forces. That was five years ago and now he is back in his hometown to get away from his life as a country music star for a little while. But trouble isn't far behind, in fact, it is closer than he thinks. It will threaten his future and he will not stand for that.Peyton and her daughter Jess have delighted me since I first read about them. Jess steals the scenes she is in, whether she is by herself or with Ethan. The two of them are inseparable and it is so damn cute. Peyton has no money and works three jobs to support her and Jess. She is part of the Linear family because she works for them as a part-time janitor but they treat her like family.Her life hasn't been easy and now Cade comes back into her life with an offer she can't refuse but she has something she needs to tell him before the job can go further. Things heat up from them and trouble ensues.This was just as suspenseful as the other books and just like Zac and Anne's story Petyon and Cade had known each other in high school. My favorite scene surprisingly did not involve the precious Jess but her best friend Ethan. Ethan and Cade had a little talk in the park by the pizzeria near the end of the story and it was so sweet it brought tears to my eyes. I love these stories and the characters that live in the pages. They are sexy, fun, full of action, and well throw in kids and dogs and you get stories that let you escape for a bit.
